Days of leisure

Recently attended a work conference at Coogee and visited the north Coogee baths. This is a narrow strip of rocks sheltering a glorious little bay.

I spied this girl floating on her back and just enjoying the waters on a hot spring day. She was probably a university student or backpacker - what a life!

Swimmer emerging from water

After the last painting I rediscovered my painting mojo and enjoyed painting this one of a swimmer climbing out of Wylie's. It was very high tide which made Wylie like a washing machine. The few brave souls like this lady who attempted a swim, quickly gave up and climbed up the ladder back to dry land. The water was swirling everywhere and sparkling in the sun. Alas no swimming could be done!

Underwater scene

On vacation in Redang Island off the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia we enjoyed snorkeling in the clear waters. There were abundant fish life and in some places numerous reefs. My 7 year old is an accomplished swimmer and skin diver. Here is a painting I completed of her joyously exploring the ocean.

It took me 4 weeks to deal with all the jobs domestic and workplace after my holiday. Only now can I get back into painting and sculpting and all things creative.

Before The Race

Came across this trio at my favourite people watching spot Wylies Bath; who were going to have a swimming race. The one on the left is an off duty lifeguard and all three look like they are very physically fit.

I snapped a photo of them and only recently dug into the archives because I needed to replace a painting sold from my Coogee series (a blank spot on the wall; recently a common occurrence that I'm enjoying).

Swimmer and water play

Today at the acrylic studio I took the problem of painting water to Tim. I used a photo of a swimmer in the ocean from Sally's blog as reference. The results were unexpectedly good.
Of course I asked Tim numerous questions about colours and mixing. Tim has a great box of paints and rather than teaching us to mix he said to use those. But I wasn't going to purchase 20 new colours to reproduce the same results at home! He showed me a few mixes and I had to get phalto green to mix cobalt.
